The story starts with Gail Baines, a woman in her early 60s, who receives the shocking news on the Friday morning. She is working as an assistant principal in a private girls’ school. She receives the news that someone else has been chosen as the principal of the school.

The discovery makes her resign from the job. She feels tensed because of the arrival of the wedding of her daughter, Debbie. Something surprising happens here. Max, Gail’s ex-husband, happens to arrive with a bag and cat, which makes her think about her past relationship with Max and also about her past decisions widely. Chapter 3 starts with the revealing of secrets. During the dinner before the wedding, Debbie receives weird news about her future husband that makes her reevaluate her wedding decision. In chapter 4 Gail admits a confession about her past life and the reason behind her divorce. Chapter starts show a new beginning. The wedding takes place, and also Gail and Max develop a new bond based on friendship and respect.
