The Lost Bookshop Summary
Hello guys, I am going to review another masterpiece today named The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods. The story follows the early nineteenth century. The book revolves around the three main characters.
Opaline
The first character is Opaline from a healthy family in Dublin. She is a young aspirant lady with extreme love for books that seems to be inherited from her father. She is the one who doesn’t want to marry and wants to run away to discover the world and new adventures and enjoy her life. That’s the reason she runs away from home and comes to Paris. In Paris she works as an employee in a bookstore. She, unfortunately, had to leave Paris too and come to Dublin again. Here in Dublin she gets an opportunity to run a bookstore in a mysterious building. This is worth reading, and I don’t want to spill the tea to disturb your reading enthusiasm by giving a spoiler. The twist is always here to be found by her cold and wicked brother.
Martha:
The second main character is Martha, who finally manages to escape an abusive marriage and comes to Paris. Here she starts working as a housemaid in a woman’s house. The woman is mysterious yet takes care of Martha.
Henry
The last main character is a young and charming person. Henry is a PhD student. The old, forgotten historical things that are rare and mysterious are his passion.
Here is a twist: Henry actually finds a letter by Opaline telling about Emily Brontë, the famous author and poet. The letter actually reveals the existence of the manuscript that was half written and was never published. There is also a reference to a bookstore with magical bars. The twist is revealed when reading gets you so deep that you know that the location is actually next to where Martha works. As the story proceeds, Henry and Martha, sharing the same interest, unite and find the lost treasure.
