So, without further ado, let’s delve into the details of the story. Little Max is the main character of the story who, after being sent to Germany, is worried about his parent’s safety. This is the story of World War II, and there are extreme crises going on in Germany. This is the reason why Max’s parents send him to London as a refugee of whatever family takes him. Max decides to go back to Germany and save his parents even though he is just a teenager. I can see Max loves his parents and doesn’t want to leave them in trouble.
Two immortal creatures, a dybbuk named Stein and a kobold named Berg, permanently get along with his shoulders for, potentially, the rest of his life. Let’s see what happens.
Themes and Writing Style:
Themes of love, care, and family love revolve around the story. Max’s love for his parents and the determination he made for the survival of his parents leave a good impact on the teenagers. The story is quite interesting and a very good reed for young teenagers. Adam Gidwitz style of writing is really inspiring.
The story reminds us of the importance of responsibility and taking risks for family. Also the determination Max show’s in the story is really inspiring. We should be ready to sacrifice everything for our loved ones because it saves us from ongoing regrets.
